Did you know that a half cup of blueberries has as much antioxidant power as five servings of peas, carrots, apples, squash, or broccoli? Did you know that in a controlled clinical study of elderly rats, blueberries improved their balance, coordination, and memory? Did you know that blueberries contain both ellagic and folic acids, compounds that inhibit cancerous tumor growth? Did you know that blueberries, like cranberries, contain a substance that can help prevent and treat urinary tract infections? Did you know that blueberries contain dietary fiber, which improves digestion? Did you know that conventional blueberries, always a second choice over organic blueberries, usually contain less pesticide contamination than conventional strawberries? Did you know that blueberries taste great?
If you know all that, then why are you not eating a half cup of blueberries every day? If they are not available fresh, they are always available as a frozen food. You can even pick and freeze your own. I prefer to buy the frozen organic brands. Stir a half cup of frozen blueberries into a bowl of steaming oatmeal and you’ll have them ready to eat in no time. Thaw them in the microwave for a few seconds and sprinkle them on tossed salads, for a special treat. Get creative when it comes to serving blueberries. They are a delicious way to stay healthy.
May you be filled with goodness, peace, and joy.
