Wellness Pathway #131: Protect Your Eyes

Last week I wrote about the importance of protecting your skin from the sun. Sunscreen is a small investment that pays big dividends. So too when it comes to your eyes, which are vulnerable to macular degeneration through exposure to sunlight. Purchasing and consistently wearing sunglasses that block ultraviolet (UV) radiation, preferably the wraparound kind that protect your eyes from all angles, reduces the chance that you will develop this debilitating disease.

Many people have the problem of not having sunglasses when and where they need them. The solution? Buy more than one pair, for the home, car, office, and athletic bag. That way you’ll always have them at hand. Be sure the sunglasses fit comfortably and assist you to see well. A hat with wide brim can also help.
