Wellness Pathway #110: Use a Neti Pot

This Wellness Pathway may push the envelope for some readers, but having just heard from one client whose life has been changed by the Neti Pot, I want to share the news with a wider audience. This tip is definitely for you if you suffer from sinus problems, headaches, and / or allergies. But everyone can experience health benefits from the simple act of rinsing out your sinuses on a daily basis with lukewarm, iodine-free saltwater. The Neti Pot enables you to do that in less time than it takes to brush your teeth, yet it can produce an even more profound sense of health and well-being.

Here’s how it works. The Neti Pot is a small, odd-shaped teapot with a spout that can fit into one nostril. Fill the pot with lukewarm water and add one-quarter teaspoon sea salt. Mix thoroughly. Tip your head to one side and breathe through your mouth. Put the spout of the Neti Pot in the top nostril and let the water run out through the bottom nostril using gravity alone; no blowing until you stop pouring and straighten your head. Tip your head to the other side and repeat. This “nasal douche,” as it is sometimes called, can be done daily. To order a Neti Pot on line, visit http://www.netipot.com.
