Wellness Pathway #102: Drink Ice Water to Lose Weight

Last week I talked about the importance of staying hydrated by drinking at least one half and ideally one full gallon (4.5 liters) of water per day. One can hardly overstate the health benefits of staying hydrated. It’s that good for you. But did you know that drinking large volumes of ice water is a great way to lose weight? Staying hydrated reduces hunger. Drinking ice water burns calories. How? Do the math. Calculate how many calories it takes to warm ice water (when you take it in) up to body temperature (when you urinate it out). In one year’s time of a gallon a day you’ll lose about 10 pounds from this little trick alone.
