I've been particularly struck this week by the power and purpose of intuition.
Intuition, for example, told me that a friend would benefit from receiving a
copy of a book I have found to be inspirational. Intuition has informed me about
the unspoken feelings and needs of those with whom I work. And, intuition has
urged me that a decision I made needs to be altered.
Sometimes called a "hunch," a "6th sense," or a "premonition," intuition is an
important tool for interpreting the world. I didn't always appreciate, nor
understand, this gift. In fact, ten years ago, I was often frustrated by it. I
viewed this instinctive voice as conflicting information; another voice adding
to my confusion, the prolonging of decision-making and inability to solve
problems swiftly.
But, "intuition is not the opposite of logic -- it is a cyclical process, a
comprehensive way of knowing life that includes both left-brain analytical
thinking and right-brain common states," asserts author of The Intuitive Way,
Penny Peirce. So, even those who gather information exclusively through the more
tangible five senses are not devoid of the gift of intuition, they have simply
not yet acknowledged it.
The benefits of embracing our intuition are plentiful:
- enhanced self-esteem and trust of self,
- confidence in informed action,
- increased creativity and imagination,
- gratefulness and the experience of grace, and
- more information and truth about the world.
Over the next several weeks we will together explore our intuitive selves, ways
to unlock this important sense, and to make practical use of it. Albert Einstein
said, "There are only two ways to live your life. One is as though nothing is a
miracle. The other is as though everything is a miracle." I invite you to join
me on this journey toward the experiencing of intuition as an everyday miracle.
