Be the Swing

 Back when you were 8 to 10 years old, you were probably living your passions.
That's when people are most likely to engage in exactly the kinds of
activities that suit us best, free from inhibitions and Gremlins.
I believe that each of us, in childhood, had those moments when we were fully
shining. Those were the moments that, if we had been wise enough, would have
been solidly etched in our minds to apply as we reached our adult years.
For me, in those years, I was completely immersed in creativity. I was
enthusiastic to volunteer for solos in choir, I was fearless about participating
in a youth theater group and, more importantly, my active imagination ruled
everything I did. The cornfield next to my country home became an elaborate
castle, full of district rooms, and I had villages of imaginary people living in
a special part of the yard where the grass was particularly lush.
Do you remember having such fun? Do you remember days when you were doing
exactly what you were meant to do? Do you remember those early days when you
were fearless and at your best?
It is still within you. Like the energy and momentum that moves a swing after a
child has jumped off and moved on to the next activity, that energy is still
within you. Your child has moved on, but the inspiration is still there. See if
you can find it.
