Career Pathway #158:
Finding Yourself

Thus, two very popular questions for individuals to contemplate are, "Who am I?" and "What do I want to do with my life?"

We visit these questions at various points on our journey, and we may come up with very different ideas as we meander through life. Though it is typical to feel some frustration from the lack of a direct path or clear vision, it is also typical for great things to come of the multiplicity of possibility and experience.

I am encouraged by E. L. Konigsburg's words, "often the search proves more profitable than the goal." Many times the goal changes as the search continues. So the power comes not from the goal, but from the idea that leads to the movement, and the experience that follows.

I believe that if we contemplate our past meanderings, we can make better sense of how we've equipped ourselves for the path ahead. And armed with that understanding of our experience and development, we can better see hints of our mission and the work we are driven to do.

Treat yourself this week to some quiet moments of thought, connecting your path with your essence and your future. Don't be afraid to let your mind entertain broad horizons and adventurous undertakings. There lies the beauty and power of your life.

Coaching Inquiries: Are you willing to let go of your day-to-day focus in order to give space and thought to what bigger life and mission is possible? How can you create the environment you need, to truly release yourself from judgment and your current reality? What greater mission in life are you connecting with as you read, observe, and experience your surroundings? How has your past experience equipped you to begin your journey towards that which is calling?

May you be filled with goodness, peace, and joy.
